Coach Tours Tasmania offer Day Tours ex Launceston to Cradle Mountain, Bay of Fires, Wineglass Bay, Tasmanian Food and Wine and Penguin Tours. Private charters and Stanby Tours available upon request subject to availability.

Cradle Mountain Day Tour

Because of its natural beauty, the Cradle Mountain National Park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tasmania. Invigorating mountain air, spectacular scenery, iconic visit. Listed as a World Heritage Area by the United Nations to protect its unique pristine wilderness, its global significance is for all to see and experience.

The viewing point for Cradle Mountain is from Dove Lake, and while you are there you have two hiking options. Firstly you may choose to walk around the lake which takes approximately two and a half hours at a brisk pace. Alternatively you may choose a selection of shorter 30 minute walks as well as a visit to Waldheim Chalet. Not everyone on the tour has to do the same option. The driver stays with the short walk passengers, and at a pre-determined time will return to collect the lake walkers. To finish off, time permitting, there is a waterfall / rainforest walk for everyone to enjoy.

On your way to Cradle see the topiary at Railton and the ‘Town of Murals’ Sheffield, and on your return enjoy a stop for cheese tastings at Ashgrove Cheese.

Bay of Fires Day Tour

Tasmania’s east coast is fast becoming renown around the world for it’s fluffy pure white sands and crystal clear azure blue waters. Granite rocky outcrops covered with orange lichen jut out into the ocean to separate a large collection of hidden away beaches. No crowds, just relaxing peaceful locations that offer you a chance to reflect on how wonderful Mother Nature is. This is the Bay Of Fires.

On your way to the Bay Of Fires visit Bridestowe Lavender Farm (Sep-May only), home of Bobbie Bear, for views of the lavender paddocks. Then onto the Myrtle Rainforest Walk on the Welborough Pass for a short walk through moss covered trees and ferns. At the Bay Of Fires we call into Binalong Bay for a beach experience, then Harbour Point to view the orange covered granite rocks, then a beach walk along the remote Taylor’s Beach. Fantastic. After your beach experience sample fresh oysters straight from the farm—Lease 65, view fishing boats in St. Helens, and then head south to the St Mary’s Pass where we head inland to pass through the contrasting grazing lands of the Fingal Valley and Northern Midlands.

Bridestowe Lavender Farm Shuttle

Bridestowe Lavender Farm is the largest lavender farm in Australia, and in full bloom a wonderful sight to see. A fantastic gift shop with a multitude of lavender products and a cafe offering homemade lunches and morning teas. The commercial lavender begins to flower in late November / early December and a beautiful purple haze spreads across the farm. By the middle of December the commercial lavender is in full bloom and the colour is dramatic covering more than 200 acres. Towards the end of January the flower starts to wilt, and the farm has to harvest before the flower ends.

The gift shop is open all year, with some amazing lavender inspired products for sale. This is where you will find the famous Bobby Bear.

And the cafe is also open all year, offering some freshly made food for lunch, morning or afternoon tea. A large variety of the food has been flavoured with lavender, not overpowering, but a light hint of the lavender to tantalise your taste buds. The lavender icecream is a favourite.

The shuttles depart Launceston in the morning.

Depending on demand there will be a departure at 8.30am which will arrive at Bridestowe 9.15am. Passengers will have 3 hours to enjoy the farm visit before departing Bridestowe at 12.15pm arriving back in Launceston 1.00pm.

There will also be a Launceston departure at 10.30am, arriving Bridestowe 11.15am. The return shuttle will depart Bridestowe at 2.15pm, arriving back in Launceston 3.00pm.

If demand is great enough there will be an afternoon service, leaving Launceston at 1.30pm, arriving Bridestowe 2.15pm, return shuttle departing 5.15pm arriving back in Launceston 6.00pm.

The shuttle requires a minimum of 4 adults to depart.

If minimum numbers are not obtained, passengers may be required to change their time of departure to ensure the service operates, so 8.30am passengers may be asked to change to 10.30am, or vice versa 10.30am passengers mat be asked to change to 8.30am.

Low Head Penguin Tour

The penguins found in Tasmania are the smallest of the penguin species, the noisiest, and also the only penguins with blue and white feathers (all others are black and white). Because of this they have several names, the Little Penguin, the Blue Penguin, but the most common name they are called is the Fairy Penguin.

Low Head Penguin Tours offer a unique nature experience to get up close and personal with our penguins as they return from the pristine waters of Bass Straight to nest in their burrows within the Low Head Coastal Reserve. This Reserve has the largest penguin rookery in Tasmania, and we have penguins returning every night throughout the year. Watch them swim to the surface, stand up and preen themselves before waddling up the beach. The penguin viewing is fully guided and takes approximately 1 hour, and including transfers to/from Launceston you need to allow 3.5 hours. You are welcome to bring a camera to capture your experience but NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY. As it gets cool at night please wear warm clothes and wear sturdy shoes (sports shoes OK).
